Bishop Elect Sonya E. Williams
Bishop-Elect Sonya E. Williams Is a long-time resident of Atlanta Ga. She is a Graduate of Eastern Tennessee State University where she pledged Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. She received her ministerial training at the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, Georgia, and is currently studying at RTS Seminary in Georgia. She is a proud spouse and Grandmother Bishop-Elect Sonya’s Ministerial Journey spans 27 Years.
She is called to minister to the marginalized and disenfranchised members of society. She is ordained by the United Church of Christ, Southeast Conference, and The Fellowship of Affirming Ministries under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Bishop Yvette A. Flunder. Under the leading of the Holy Spirit, in 2008 Pastor Sonya founded Real Inspiration Ministries Fellowship UCC. Formerly Restoration Inclusive Ministries. She has served as Lead Shepherd of this ministry for 13years.
Along with Pastoring, she is the founder of "Loose The Noose" an organization committed to creating a society where every child has the opportunity to develop learn and thrive in an environment appreciative of diversity, without violence, without fear, and without limitations. The Southern Black Female Clergy, an organization that uses the teachings and principles of Jesus Christ to create change, do social justice, and uses its platform for advocacy work in the urban Southern Region of the United States.
Bishop-Elect Sonya is also the founder of the “Feed My Sheep" outreach ministry which feeds over 500 urban campers monthly. This ministry sponsors a Hat, Scarves, and Gloves drives, Back To School drives, and Free Safe Sex drives which administer Free HIV testing
Bishop-Elect Sonya has served as a missionary to Haiti and presently hosts a Change for Change Campaign for the Los Memorias Hospital and Hospice in Tijuana Mexico which houses people who are living with AIDS and HIV. Currently, she is serving as the Chairperson of the Clayton County Georgia LGBT Advisory Board. Personally, Bishop-Elect Sonya enjoys spending time with her spouse Regina, family, and only Granddaughter Da’Kodah.
