I state with confident assurance that these Visions will manifest into reality. Why? Because they are the inspired will of God for the people of God
In June, 2007 the spirit of the Lord awoke Pastor Sonya E. Williams and impressed upon her heart to go to Macon, Georgia and feed His sheep. After several confirmations and doors opening, this Vision became a reality on June 3, 2008. Pastor Sonya began connecting with people in Macon, via internet and found that there was a need for inclusive ministry in that area.
Pastor Sonya, Founder, and two (2) fellow ministers from Atlanta, Georgia traveled to Macon. There they met with twenty- three (23) people for Bible study at Arbor Apartment on River Side Drive, Macon on June 3, 2009. The word spread, to many same gendered loving people that Jesus’ radically inclusive love included them and our numbers quickly grew. Outgrowing that space and wanting to engage in Sunday worship experience, we decided to rent a space located in downtown Macon at 616 Poplar Street.
Word quickly spread that we were doing this diverse type of ministry in Macon, but there were those close minded people who were not happy with us being there. We began to receive numerous threats against our church and some of the members jobs were threatened too. Because of this we decided to move to the Rainbow Center in Macon, a place that aided those living with HIV and Aids. We found them to be welcoming and affirming; they gave us the use of their community center on Sunday for church service.
On Sundays; we fed the residents spiritual food and to show our gratitude we prepared meals for the residents. Facing the realization that our membership was declining because of non-acceptance from the community, we decided to move our church to Atlanta, Georgia; until we could revamp and seek the Lord as to how we could better serve the Macon community.
In September, 2009, we rented a ballroom at the Quality Inn Hotel on Riversdale Road, Riverdale, Georgia to have church service and our membership grew to about eighty (80) members within three (3) months. We quickly out grew that space and on January, 2010 Restoration Inclusive Ministries (R.I.M.) signed a lease for church space at 2411C Memorial Drive, Atlanta, Georgia. We had our first services on February 8, 2010 at 11:30am. We had a full house and we had three (3) people to join the church. We now have about one hundred and twenty (120) members and we are still “reaching the masses with a message that matters.” We have several outreach projects and in-house ministries that have been birthed out of this vision.
Keeping with the Vision God gave Pastor Sonya concerning Macon, we now U-stream Live via internet in Macon every Sunday morning where the people can partake of the service in a safe space without leaving the comfort of home.
We have come this far by faith and we know that God will lead us for many generations to come.
